for 1981, 28in. nitro barrels with 8mm ventilated matt top-rib with intermediate bead sight, 2 3/4in. chambers, multichokes (with spares), hold-open toplever, manual safety with integral barrel selector switch, gold-washed single-trigger, action deeply carved with bold acanthus scrolls on a matt background, surrounding gold-detailed vignettes of American pintail in flight, the underside gold-inlaid 'AMERICAN PINTAIL, 261 OF 500, ANAS ACUTA', signed 'L. Ernst', the triggerguard with a relief engraved and gold-inlaid portrait of a further pintail, 14in. figured semi-pistolgrip stock with ornate chequering borders, fore-end wood with some insert repairs, weight 7lb. 2oz.
